Making a positive difference is one of our deepest-held values here at von Drehle. That’s always what we strive to do for our customers, but that commitment extends to our community as well. From our work with Special Olympics and Gigi’s Playhouse to collecting food and supply donations for our neighbors through the PORCH program, we have been blessed with many opportunities to serve our community.
Our service isn’t limited to our human neighbors; we also recognize the importance of supporting our furry friends. For years, von Drehle has partnered with the Humane Society of Catawba County to support homeless pets, humane education, low-cost community services and more.
This partnership was grown by Chris von Drehle, our Director of Creative Content & Learning Strategist. A true animal lover (see some of his four-legged friends below!), Chris has helped coordinate von Drehle’s supply drives and donations for the Humane Society. For the second year in a row, we are sponsoring a digital billboard that displays info on the Humane Society and their spay and neuter programs. Meet some of Chris’s own furry friends below!

Founded in 1971, the all-volunteer Western Piedmont Humane Society was dedicated to placing abandoned animals into new homes. In 1998, the society name was changed to the Humane Society of Catawba County, and the organization is now home to a no-kill animal shelter and low-cost spay/neuter clinic and education center. They remain the only nonprofit companion animal service organization in the county responding to animal care concerns in the community.
